School Fees - 2008
School Fee Explanation
Guardian Angels Parish Primary School charges a single fee for each child attending our school.
The school is keen to make the fees as transparent as possible for parents, with a fee that is all inclusive. As well, we are keen to reduce the amount of administration time teachers need to spend administering the collection of money for regular outings and school events. Our fees are all inclusive. There will be no other requests for money apart from charitable fundraising projects, music and extra curricula tuition and for school uniforms.
The fees will be collected over the first three terms. There will be incentives for early payment, and there is also the option of paying the full year's fees and levies over 40 weeks through periodic debit. This is a free service, and is designed to have the year's fees and levies paid with regular fortnightly deductions from your account, Credit Card or Internet Banking, with the total annual fee being completed by November. Please note that, if using internet banking, that you include the student ID that appears on the statement. This ID is based on your surname.
School Fees and Levies:
Enrolment at Guardian Angels requires not only a faith commitment but also a financial one. School fees are set by the Principal and are ratified by the Parish Finance Committee.
The breakdown of these fees is set out below:
The school fee for 2008 is set at $1848 for one child, $2826 for two children, $3297 for three children and $3532.50 for 4 children. The fifth child is free.
The Levy for 2008 is set at $552 for each child from Prep to Year Seven.
The School Fee itself covers such as things as wages for staff, cleaning costs, repairs, maintenance, electricity, phone, office consumables, ground work, insurance, rates etc.
The Levy charge covers all sporting events, all day trips (except music), visiting performers, camps [including year seven Southern Trip], text books, library and classroom resources, art and craft supplies, stationery, school photos and accident insurance for every child.
Points to note about payment of school fees.
School fee accounts will be mailed to each family in the first week in Terms 1,2 and 3. Families not wishing to pay by Term may make arrangements for fees to be paid by direct debit.
If the entire fee and levy for the year is paid within the first five weeks of school [ie. paid by Friday 29 February 2008, there will be a 5% discount off the school fee.
Guardian Angels Parish Primary School, like Aquinas College, is committed to providing a Catholic education for all Catholic children whose parent/s or guardian/s desire it. We are also aware that some parent/s or guardian/s find themselves in financial difficulties from time to time. In spite of this, we will always endeavour to ensure that no Parish student will be denied a place at our school because parents are genuinely unable to pay fees.
We have in place a system of fee support which is available on application. The level of support is determined on the basis of a just and equitable formula. Any fee support is looked at in terms of financial needs of the family concerned, their responsibility to full-fee paying parent/s or guardian and the efforts they make to meet their commitments.
Discounts Available at Guardian Angels
Where a family has more than one child at Guardian Angels, the second and subsequent children will all attract a discounted school fee.
Parish P-12 Campus Discount
Where a family has children at both Guardian Angels Parish Primary School and Aquinas College, they will be entitled to a discount of $200 off their school fees from each school. This discount is arranged at either school and applies to both school accounts. This discount is made available to families that support both parish primary and secondary schools.
Late Enrolments
Families enrolling children at Guardian Angels from or after the commencement of a school year are expected to pay the fees that the school will expend on their child on school camps for that year.
The School Fee has two essential components: the school fee and the levy (both are explained earlier)
For a child enrolling from or after the commencement of a school year, the family is expected to pay the entire levy for the year, and a prorata school fee (the number of weeks left to attend divided by 40).
As well, for the year of enrolment, if a child is entering Years 4 to 7, they will be expected to pay for that year's excursion. The reason for this is that the other children in those particular years have been paying towards these trips since preschool.
These costs are
Year 4 $160
Year 5 $160
Year 6 $190
Years 7 $950
Departing the school
Families departing the school at any time, apart from the end of a school year, need to inform the school a term in advance of their departure (exceptional circumstances excepted).
The school will expect that families departing before the end of the school year will pay the levy account for the year, and a prorata school fee (the number of weeks left to attend divided by 40).
At enrolment, families and the school enter into a mutual agreement in good faith. The school makes a commitment to the enrolled child and to this child in the context of the year level cohort, to provide all of the materials required for that child for the whole year. As well, camps, excursions and incursions are booked and paid for based on the numbers in the year level. The family makes a commitment in good faith to enrol their child for the year and to pay all school fees and levies. Should a child be withdrawn before the end of a year, the school is financially disadvantaged as the cost for all materials, camps, excursions etc are paid for based on a particular enrolment figure. As the school has reserved a position for a child, that child has in fact prevented another child from taking a placement at Guardian Angels. It is therefore the school's policy that refunds of levies are not given as they have already been allocated and spent. Where a family has paid a full year's fees and levies, and, for example, were to leave at the need of Term 1, they would be refunded prorata fees, but none of the levies.
Holding a Position
Where an enrolment has been accepted, and a family, for whatever reason needs to delay arrival, the school will hold a position for a child upon the payment of fees and levies from the date of acceptance.
